Position size calculator
Enter your capital, how much you’re willing to lose on this trade, and your entry and stop-loss. You get the quantity that keeps one loss at exactly that amount.

How it works
Position sizing makes every trade risk the same small share of your capital, so a losing streak can’t wipe you out.
Money at risk = capital × risk% ÷ 100 Risk per unit = |entry − stop-loss| Quantity = money at risk ÷ risk per unit, rounded down to whole lots Reward : risk = |target − entry| ÷ risk per unit
Example: ₹1,00,000 capital, 1% risk = ₹1,000. Entry ₹500, stop ₹490 → ₹10 risk per share → 100 shares. A ₹530 target is 3R: ₹3,000 if it’s hit, ₹1,000 if the stop is.
For education and planning. Trading involves risk; prices can gap past a stop-loss. Not investment advice.
Questions
How much should I risk per trade?
Many traders risk 0.5% to 2% of their capital on a single trade. Smaller risk means a losing streak hurts less; pick a number you could lose ten times in a row and still trade calmly.
Does it work for F&O lots?
Yes. Enter the lot size and the quantity is rounded down to whole lots. If even one lot risks more than you planned, the calculator says so.
What is an R multiple?
R is the amount you risk on the trade. A target that is three times as far from the entry as your stop-loss is a 3R trade: it earns three times what a loss would cost.
