The short answer
- Neither charges a listing fee or a monthly fee to start.
- Gumroad takes 10% + $0.50 of every direct sale, plus card processing (2.9% + $0.30) or PayPal’s fees on top, and a flat 30% on sales that come from its Discover marketplace.
- Zyentora keeps the product’s base price and 10% of your markup on the Free plan. Nothing else is deducted.
- Both accept UPI from Indian buyers, and both deliver the file automatically after payment.
- The real difference is the model: on Gumroad you need your own product; on Zyentora you don’t.

| Payment processing | Extra: card processing 2.9% + $0.30, or PayPal’s fees | No extra deduction |

Fees: what “10%” means on each
Gumroad’s 10% is taken from the whole sale price, and the fixed $0.50 is added to every sale, so it weighs most on cheap products: on a $2 product the $0.50 alone is a quarter of the price. Card processing (2.9% + $0.30) or PayPal’s fees then come on top, according to Gumroad’s own help page. Above $20,000 of sales in a calendar month, new direct sales that month drop to 5% + $0.50.
Zyentora’s 10% is taken only from your markup. The base price isn’t a fee on your work: it is what the product costs, because Zyentora made it. So the fair comparison is not “10% vs 10%”, it is what you keep from each sale:
- On Gumroad, everything left after its fee and processing, from a product you had to create.
- On Zyentora, your markup minus 10% of it (minus 7% on Pro, 5% on Pro+), from a product you didn’t have to create.
UPI and delivery
Gumroad’s help centre says it accepts local payment methods such as UPI for buyers in India, and Gumroad delivers the file automatically, so UPI on its own isn’t a reason to choose either one. Where they differ for Indian sellers is currency and payouts:
- Gumroad works in US dollars with conversion: its fee includes a fixed $0.50, and payouts need a $100 balance.
- Zyentora is priced in rupees end to end, and the Free plan’s minimum payout is ₹500.
Which one fits
Choose Gumroad if you have your own product, want buyers worldwide, and like the chance of extra sales from its marketplace.
Choose Zyentora if you want to start selling today without making a product, sell mainly to buyers in India, and want a store in rupees with nothing to pay up front. You can also use both: Gumroad for your own products, Zyentora for a ready-made catalogue.
About Zyentora
How Zyentora works. Zyentora makes the products (ebooks, guides, templates, trackers). You pick which ones to sell, set your own price above each product’s fixed base price, and share your store link. You don’t create, upload or host anything. Zyentora keeps the base price and a fee on your markup, never on the whole sale:
| Zyentora plan | Monthly cost | Zyentora keeps | Minimum payout | Products in your store |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | ₹0 | The base price + 10% of your markup | ₹500 | 5 at a time |
| Pro | ₹399 (or ₹4,309 a year) | 50% of the base price + 7% of your markup | ₹250 | 15 at a time |
| Pro+ | ₹799 (or ₹8,629 a year) | 30% of the base price + 5% of your markup | No minimum | No limit |
Worked example on Free: a product with a ₹39 base price that you sell for ₹149 leaves ₹110 of markup; the fee is 10% of that (₹11), so you receive ₹99. No payment-gateway fee is taken from that: Razorpay’s charges come out of Zyentora’s share. Buyers pay by UPI, cards or netbanking through Razorpay, get the file on screen the moment the payment succeeds and by email, and the download link works for 7 days. Payouts go to your UPI ID or bank account.
